Hensol Castle 03/03/18 - Snow day

Winter wedding I was very apprehensive about this particular wedding. In the days leading up to it, South Wales was hit hard with 'The Beast From The East'. Severe weather warnings were issued across the country and people were advised only to travel if absolutely necessary. Winter was coming!* I love snow as much as the next 11 year old but the adult in me was slightly worried about this. Getting there I did my usual preparations for my performance e.g. learning and rehearsi

    Margam Orangery 20/01/18

Margam Orangery is situated in the grounds of Margam Park, Port Talbot. A beautiful scenic landscape filled with wildlife, babbling brooks, fountains, flowery avenues and it's right on my doorstep. It's rare that I get to play so close to home these days and it was nice to see some familiar faces amongst the wedding guests. The venue Entering through the stone walled gate to the park grounds, you're instantly met with the view of the Orangery. A long poetic building with a fo

    Bryngarw House 26/08/17

Bryngarw House is one of my favourite venues, so when I was asked to play a ceremony, drinks reception and first dance, I was more than happy to hang around for a few hours in an idilic country house. Ceremony The song choices for this wedding were beautiful. With one new song I'd never heard of before. Beyonce - Die for you. Clearly this meant a lot to the bride and groom so I recorded a brief sample of the song very roughly to give them an idea how it would sound live. Usua

    Miskin Manor 21/08/17

I enjoy nothing more than reinterpreting a song to make it fit into a wedding atmosphere. On this occasion, my clients were particularly original and very much on my wave length. Bride to be, "We don't know if it's possible, but we would love the Zelda theme..." Me, on the outside, "Anything's possible" Me on the inside.... The venue This was the first time I've played a ceremony at this venue and it was nice to play somewhere that my moustache can feel at home. It didn't go

    Peterstone Court 19/08/17

A change from the monotonous motorway drive. The journey to this venue took me through the rolling Welsh valleys in the heart of Brecon to a regal manor house. As far as venue's go, it was well situated with stunning views, staff were wonderful and maybe this is the moustache talking but I found it equally as majestic as it was homely. The only downside.. Bee's do not like my music. I was booked to play a drinks reception for a lovely couple I met at a wedding fayre in Cardif

    King Arthur Hotel - 27/07/17

I think it's safe to say I'm a regular at King Arthur Hotel. I was excited to play this particular wedding because there were a few original song choices which I was looking forward to learning. Also, the only thing nicer than the staff at King Arthur, is the food. And I like food. Ceremony The song choices the couple had was a mix of classical and contemporary. I don't think I've ever played a ceremony before with Pachelbel and Lionel Richie on the same song sheet. It's alwa

    17/07/17 - Ancient Castle Wedding

I think it's safe to say this booking came in last minute. With less than two weeks notice, I was booked to play a wedding ceremony at Ogmore Castle. A local tourist attraction situated on a babbling river and surrounded by free roaming horses. Preparation Playing in the ruins of an ancient stone fortress sounds wonderful, and it was, but it comes with it's challenges. There's not much call for hair straighteners and phone chargers in the 12th century so electricity is some w

    12/07/17 - Morden Hall

This wedding will always stand out for me. Not only was it a friend of mine getting married but it was my first time driving to London and I really didn't know what to expect. Getting there In my head, I imagined the venue to be similar to a hotel on some high street surrounded by similar high rise buildings but after looking up the venue online, it seemed to be a country estate with it's own grounds. This relieved me greatly. I was a little nervous about driving in the centr
