My Experience as an Acoustic Wedding Musician at Margam Orangery

Updated: Jan 25

Margam Orangery is situated in the grounds of Margam Park, Port Talbot. A beautiful scenic landscape filled with wildlife, babbling brooks, fountains, flowery avenues and it's right on my doorstep.

It's rare that I get to play so close to home these days and it was nice to see some familiar faces amongst the wedding guests.

The Venue From An Acoustic Wedding Musician's Perspective

Entering through the stone walled gate to the park grounds, you're instantly met with the view of the Orangery. A long poetic building with a fountain on one side. Jutting out of the well-maintain lawn on the other side are the old pillars of a ruined abbey.

It has a very majestic feel with it's very high ceiling, art and windows overlooking the fountain.

Ceremony

The song choices for during the ceremony by the bride and groom were all very atmospheric, rustic instrumental choices apart form the walking out song (which was one I'v been meaning to add to my set for a while.)

Walking in

Paper Kites - Bloom

Register signing

Hozier - Cherry Wine

Jose Gonzalez - Heartbeats

Ben Howard - Old Pine

Walking out

Hall and Oates - You make my dreams come true

Drinks reception

In the time it took for all the guests to leave the ceremony area and get a drink from the entrance, the staff had positioned the chairs so that people could have somewhere to sit and chat, eat canapés and listen to some acoustic background music.

Videographers

While I was warming up before the ceremony, and enjoying the cathedral-like acoustics of the high roof and hard surfaces, I was pleased that the bride and groom had chosen Taylor and Simon to document their day.

I've worked with them on numerous occasions. They love what they do and provide an amazing service. With one filming the bride and one filming the groom on the morning of this particular wedding, they collaborated during the ceremony and even took a live recording of my guitar and vocals during the ceremony. Check out their website.

What the clients thought

"I wanted to say a massive thank you for the day, all of our guests were raving about how amazing you were! The music during the ceremony was absolutely incredible"

Bride and Groom

If you are getting married and would like a guitarist and singer dedicated to making your day truly special, I'm the right acoustic wedding musician for you.
